Why Astro instead of WordPress

Notes on picking a static, markdown-first stack over a CMS.

WordPress hasn’t changed the parts that soured me on it twenty years ago — PHP, MySQL, an admin panel, plugin sprawl.

Astro renders content to static HTML at build time. No database, no runtime overhead for a page that’s just text. Posts are markdown files in the repo; publishing is a git push.
